11 | 04 | 08 Members want something from the Web site as well.

Web Sites are great, they are a companies online brochure, they can be accessed 24 hours a day, they can provide useful information and if a customer is looking for a business like yours they are an easy way for people to find you and details about you.  But what if they already know who you are and where you are.  Do web sites still have a use?

For a golf club the obvious extra benefit is for the members but why would they go onto a web site to look and great pictures and read text about the club that they already know so much about.  Well the obvious thing is if there is information specifically for them.

Web Sites are being used for more and more things these days and it can become a “Window to the Club”.  A members way of staying in touch with what is going on without having to go for a visit.  With the right tools the site can be easily kept up to date and provide the members with an invaluable way of keeping up to date with what is happening.

Members don’t want much.  If you can offer them an up to date diary of events, quick posting of competition results and the ability to contact other registered members on the site, they are quite happy.  If you then add news items occasionally and place entry forms, committee minutes or public announcements, they are generally ecstatic.

Imagination have developed a fully functional members area that can be added to any existing web site that allows members to have there own unique username and password.  From there they can access lots of useful information as outlined above as well as key personnel pages and questions & answers.

The best thing about the site is not the amount of information but the speed and ease of keeping it updated.  The diary can be imported from a simple Excel spreadsheet, there are direct links for those clubs with Club 2000 or Handicap Master and the site itself has a built in easy to use editor that requires no extra software and limited experience.

The editing is not necessarily the responsibility of the club manager either.  Using very creative administration rights you can allows different people to update different parts of the site.  This means that you can get the committee involved in the upkeep of the information.  Even members themselves can submit articles and they just need approval before appearing on the site.

This has become one of the leading tools for golf club members.  If you would like more information then please go to www.imaginationgolf.co.uk/golf.asp
